"Bankruptcy!" [The Office]

I have to admit that these fantastically superb one-hour episodes are making my Thursday nights belong to NBC.  Sure, "Supernatural," "Grey's Anatomy," and "CSI" spark some pretty severe fan devotion, (I just happen to love "Supernatural") but I've always started off my nights with Comedy Night Done Right, and then followed through with the other shows afterward via DVR.  After tonight's laugh/tear-filled episode, I wouldn't have it any other way.

In this week's episode, Jim (John Krasiniski) and Pam's (Jenna Fischer) relationship evolves as they take the next step and they spend a night at bed & breakfast.  Of course the date happened to take place at Schrute farms, so it would be quite the miracle if any kind of romance occurred.  Dwight's (Rainn Wilson) extremely odd cousin Moe completed the eccentric environment that the Schrute Farm provided.  Pam and Jim chose to stay in the 'irrigation' room, and they spent most of the night being creeped out by the wide variety of odd noises.

Dwight, the source of one of those unusual moaning sounds, seems to be falling into quite a bad place after the departure of Angela.  In fact, the only people who seem to be truly happy in this episode are Jim and Pam.  However, some help from a former foe (Jim) seemed to jolt him back into reality.  Although it will probably be a while before the effects of Angela's departure subside, it seems as though Dwight will survive just fine.

Unfortunately, Michael (Steve Carell) didn't seem to adjusting to his personal financial strain that well.  All throughout the seasons of "The Office," we've seen Michael spend a bit of money on extremely unnecessary things, but I didn't think that his situation was this serious.  For the first part of the episode, Michael seemed to be in denial about his money problems -- need I remind you of device that strengthens your "core."  Unlike the situation with Dwight, it may be a bit more difficult to help Michael who tends to deal with situations in a child-like ways.

Some note-worthy moments...

-Kelli and Daryl's relationship
-Michael's statement regarding becoming the Chief of Surgery (or a cowboy).
-Cousin Moe in the outhouse
-Michael's telemarketing job, and the appreciation he gets from his co-workers there.
-Michael's "presentation" on PowerPoint.
-Andy's gesture of getting a cat for Angela
-Michael trying to borrow money from the mob
-Dwight hanging on to one of Angela's possessions
-Apparently if you crinkle a dollar bill, it is 'destroyed'
-Crede transferring his debt to his false identity
-Michael considering entering the witness protection program, under the name Lord Rupert Emerton.

Overall, this was a pretty decent episode.  Unfortunately, it lacked some of drama of the previous episodes.  Sure, the Dwight/Angela relationship was covered, but the heart of the show lies within the Jim/Pam dynamic.  Now that they are together, I think that people will start to lose interest.  Remember the season two finale (who doesn't)...the following season finale wasn't nearly as good because much of the romantic tension had dissolved into a happy relationship.  Don't get me wrong; I want to see Jim and Pam together, but I feel that a few schisms need to be thrown in there just to make things a little more interesting.

Sadly, I missed much of this episode due to cable disruption on account of a cascade of tornado warnings around my city.  If I ever get my television viewing interrupted by a 'special weather alert' again, I will suffer a massive mental breakdown.  That being said, the parts of the episode that I did catch were enough for me to give it an 8/10.
