"Human rights are so yesterday!" [Boston Legal]

Although I found this case to be somewhat interesting, I have to say that the general quality of this episode has slightly decreased from the amazing run that Boston Legal has had for the past couple of episodes.   This episode dealt with a British Harvard-educated Middle-easterner suing the government for being detained and tortured, when he had done nothing wrong.  This seems oddly reminiscent of the Abu Ghraib scandals, and the many claims of wrongful imprisonment that are being ignored every single day.

I've pointed this out before -- Boston Legal is one of the few shows that boldly approaches controversial and uncomfortable topics.  That is one of many reasons that I loved this show!

Now for the negatives, I really didn't care for either of the judges.  Judge Gloria, Alan's love interest, has been consistently uninteresting, and once again she blatantly displays exactly how very little chemistry the two characters share.  As for the other judge, I really can't understand Alan and Denny's desire for her.  Her squinted eyes and monotonous tone make for one weird, odd, and slightly creepy character.  I was quite put off by her!

As for the positives, I absolutely loved Christian Clemenson's Jerry Espenson (did I get the actor's name right?).  I was laughing out loud all throughout the opening credits.  Another nod goes out to Candice Bergen once again.  She is one talented actress.

I noticed that there was a lack of Denise and Brad in this episode.  I was very happy to notice that, since their storylines have been less than interesting of late.

I give this episode a 7/10.
