ER: This show needs a shot of epinephine!

Uh…shouldn't the season finale be better than the previous episodes?  I know many dedicated fans will disagree with my assessment, but I believe that ever since the terrific "I don't," the remainder of the season fell into a steady decline.  Actually, more like a sharp drop…

That being said, there were some note-worthy moments.  I was caught completely off guard by Ray's amputations.  First of all, when Ray was hit by the truck in "I don't," I assumed the worst and anticipated his demise.  When I heard he was still alive, I came into the episode with mixed feelings.  Now I feel like it would be better if Ray had died, because this way he has a lot of trials to undergo in the road to recovery -- the most apparent being his apparent depression and self-loathing.  Not a good way to go out…

Speaking of all things Ray-related, what is with Kate?  Yeah, I know she feels like she has to compete with Neela for Ray's affection, but to blame Neela for Ray's accident is taking it a little too far.  I didn't care for her character to begin with, and now I really don't like her!

The best part of the episode was the "new guy."  Played by the always enjoyable Stanley Tucci, Dr. Morretti got on everyone's case and really didn't care about making waves.  Morretti continued to blame Pratt for everything, he even attacked the quality of Morris' and Sam's work.  To cap it off, he sat everyone down for an explosive pep talk.  After what he said to Abby, it is increasingly evident that Morretti clearly doesn't have a problem with speaking his mind.  I think that he makes a wonderfully fresh addition to the cast, and I hope his presence as the new Chief Resident is permanent.

As for the usual tearjerker moment, Tony lost custody of his sweet would-be daughter.  Given the rather hectic and "unsuitable for children" life that Tony has had for this season, that particular scenario was bound to happen, and it will probably end up increasing the quality of life for Sarah.  However, one would have to be extremely emotionally impaired to not to feel for Tony as his daughter was ripped right away from his grasp after he finally decided that he wanted to be a part of her life.

Apparently Luka has some business back in Croatia, so he left Abby, but we all know the truth -- Goran Visnjinc is leaving the cast.  I wonder how the writer are going to explain that plot twist…  As for the cliff-hanger ending, after last season ER shoot-out, this was rather lame in comparison.  I found myself asking "what just happenend" and "I don't get it."  I still don't know what happened, it just didn't make sense to me -- and not in a good way like Lost.

Overall, this was a disappointing episode.  I came into this episode with high expectations, and the result was less than that of a mediocre episode.  So much for season finale goodness, I give this episode a 6/10.
